Clean, Polish & Fluoride Offer

Clean, Polish & Fluoride

A regular clean, polish, and fluoride treatment is one of the most important things you can do to take care of your teeth. Dental cleans are recommended every 6 to 12 months. Our comfortable deep clean, surface stain-removing polish and remineralising fluoride treatment reduces the risk of tooth decay (cavities), discolouration (staining), bacteria build-up, and Gingivitis and Periodontitis (gum disease). Gingivitis and Periodontitis can cause bad
breath, tooth loss, and sensitivity, as well as tender, swollen, bleeding and receding gums. Dental diseases that regular dental cleans can prevent have an impact on the health of your entire body – with direct links to cardiovascular (heart) disease, endocarditis (heart valve inflammation), diabetes, pneumonia (lung infection), and chronic renal (kidney) disease.

At Mobile Dental Care Australia, we use the latest, most effective, pain-free technology and techniques to prevent and treat dental problems quickly, efficiently and comfortably so that you can smile for life!

Baby (primary) teeth play a crucial role in a child’s health and development. As well as helping to eat and speak, primary teeth hold space and help guide adult (permanent) teeth growing beneath the gum into position. Teeth naturally tilt and shift into empty spaces, so removing primary teeth early often creates orthodontic issues requiring braces down the track. Removing primary teeth before they fall out naturally may also cause problems with jaw and muscle development. Dental decay and cavities in primary teeth can cause infections that spread through the roots and into the permanent teeth below them, damaging the permanent teeth before they are even visible in the mouth! Looking after primary teeth by establishing great oral health habits like regular brushing and dental visits is essential to improve quality of life and maintain dental health for a lifetime!

The perfect time for your child’s first dental visit is as soon as your baby’s first tooth becomes visible (usually 6 to 9 months of age), or around the time of their first birthday (whichever comes first as babies mature and develop at different rates). This ensures that they are familiar and comfortable with the dental setting, making them more likely to be relaxed and confident in future appointments. Dental checkups are also essential to monitor development and evaluate the health and function of all parts of the head and neck! When teeth are first visible in the mouth, they are more at risk of decay, so teeth are often affected by tooth decay as soon as they first arrive. This is why regular dental checkups and building healthy oral health habits early help to guarantee a lifetime of healthy teeth and stress-free dental visits!

We aim to eliminate dental anxieties while delivering exceptional care and tailored education to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of children. Our friendly and compassionate team are specially trained in working with children of all ages. We provide a relaxing, comfortable, safe, fun and interactive experience where children can feel at ease and enjoy themselves while learning about essential oral health information and receiving personalised, comprehensive care. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease. Gingivitis is highly prevalent, with 1 in 5 Australians suffering from the disease. It is an infection of the gums from bacteria found in plaque with symptoms that include swollen, tender, bleeding and receding gums. The cause of gingivitis is not brushing or flossing, incorrect brushing techniques, and avoiding dental visits. Gingivitis is completely reversible and preventable by regular professional dental cleans!

Periodontitis is a severe form of gum disease. Gingivitis will progress into Periodontitis if left untreated. Periodontitis is also highly prevalent, with 3 in 10 Australians suffering from the disease. It is an infection of the gums and jaw-bone from bacteria found in plaque that damages the gums and destroys the bone that supports teeth. Periodontitis often leads to tooth and bone loss, as well as many other health complications. Damage from periodontitis is irreversible; the longer it is left untreated, the worse the damage gets. However, it can be treated and prevented by regular professional dental cleans!

Tooth Decay is the most common chronic disease in Australia. It is caused by regularly consuming sugary food and drinks, avoiding dental visits, and not brushing well (or at all!). Tooth decay occurs when bacteria found in plaque produce acids that attack the tooth’s surface (enamel). Sugar is this bacteria’s favourite food, so if you regularly consume lots of sugar, these bacteria will multiply. The acid attack that the bacteria causes first appears as a white spot on the tooth’s surface. At this early stage of tooth decay, the tooth can repair itself with the help of fluoride. If left untreated, the white spot turns into a hole (cavity) that progresses deeper into the tooth and can cause infection, pain, tooth loss and abscess formation. At this late stage of tooth decay, the tooth cannot repair itself, and further treatment is required. Symptoms of tooth decay can include toothache, sensitivity, a swollen face, bad breath, teeth chipping away easily, a bad taste in the mouth, swollen gums and white, brown, or black stains on the teeth.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral released from rocks into the earth’s water, soil and air. Because of this, fluoride is naturally found in drinking water and many foods, including fruits, vegetables, and fish. A higher concentration of fluoride is added to bottled and tap water, as well as dental products like toothpaste, mouth rinses, varnishes and gels. Fluoride is a dental professional’s best friend! Fluoride is great at remineralising your teeth – this means that fluoride can initiate the growth of a new tooth surface in a tooth damaged by dental decay. The new tooth surface is now stronger and more resistant to acid and mineral loss, so new cavities will have a harder time forming in teeth protected by fluoride!

As much as we love fluoride and all its amazing benefits, we understand and respect that people have different preferences and beliefs – this is why we also offer Tooth Mousse, which is made from milk products and is fluoride-free. We are happy to use this instead. Just let us know before or during your appointment.
